With two of the world’s biggest events heading to Bike Odyssey home territory on the South Coast and Southern Highlands of New South Wales, we bring you a relaxed but challenging chance to take on the same roads with Bike Odyssey class!
Over 2 days ride, fully supported, the route of l’Etape 2020 with classic Bike Odyssey support just like touring in Europe! Beautiful coffee stops, exceptional picnic spreads with accommodation and dinner fit for kings and queens!
Day 1 – Berry – Bowral – Bargo
Distance 100km / Elevation 1800m
Heading straight into beautiful and hilly territory we head up Berry Mountain and along Tourist Road before dropping into Kangaroo Valley for a coffee and rest before taking on l’Etape’s aptly named Col du Fitzroy! The morning is about climbing and once you reach the 40km mark you will have completed the majority of the elevation! It is at this point that we diverge from the l’Etape route heading north on flatter roads to Bowral for lunch then on to one of the best hosts and accommodation in the Southern Highlands.

Our Dinner with Buon Ricordo
Hatted (Australia’s Michelin star equivalent) Italian institution Buon Ricordo is one of Sydney’s finest restaurants. We are lucky enough to have them coming exclusively to Kalinya Estate to cater for us. A four course, wine matched extravaganza awaits!
Day 2 – Bargo – Robertson – Kiama – Berry
Distance 118km / Elevation 1700m
Today we take in the best of both the Bowral Classic and the second half of l’Etape. We head over rolling highlands with great views, sometimes all the way to the Pacific Ocean through Kangaloon to Robertson for a coffee. From here a spectacular descent through Barren Grounds and deep forests takes us to Jamberoo for a picnic lunch. Then we have the option to continue on the trail of l’Etape over challenging but spectacular Saddleback or take the flatter and more direct route around straight to Kiama. A beautiful coastal burst through sleepy Gerringong and Gerroa brings us back into Berry.
Shorter options available on both days, van support throughout. We love and cycle frequently every road in this area and know all the short cuts and easier routes when required!

If you need accommodation the night before or after please let us know, we are happy to help. Free, safe car parking for all is available in Berry at our farm/Bike Odyssey office.
