Navigating Bike Transfers from the Airport to Santiago – Che Odyssey

Traveling with your bike can be a challenge, but with a little preparation, transferring your bike (and yourself) from the airport into Santiago is manageable and even enjoyable.  Santiago, Chile’s bustling capital, is a gateway to some incredible cycling adventures, including our Che Odyssey, so ensuring your bike makes it to the city safely is a top priority.  Here’s a guide to help smooth your arrival and bike transfer process.

The official airport shuttle at Santiago Airport is called TRANSVIP (orange uniform) https://www.transvip.cl/. They have counters in the airport located right after the luggage carousels (on LEFT hand side). Make sure you don’t leave the secure area (automatic doors), the counters are within the secure area of the airport. They are always available at the airport and are by contract with the airport. They can take private or shared shuttles with Transvip. You only need to provide the name or address of Hotel Magnolia.

Private van (if they bring own bike in big box) is CLP $35.000 (around USD $40 per van)

Private sedan is CLP $25.000 (around USD $30 per car)

Shared Shuttle (COMPARTIDO) is CLP $9.000 (around USD $10 per person)

You can pay with cash or credit card

Do not take any other shuttle or taxi services. These are the best and most reliable.

There is a similar situation in Temuco Airport. The shuttle company is called TRANS ARAUCANIA https://reservas.transaraucania.cl/. They have a counter at the airport, right next to the automatic doors (from the baggage carousel, on RIGHT hand side). They offer regular shuttles to Pucon at $15.000 pesos (USD $18 per person), and they need a minimum of 4 people.

If they don’t have the 4 minimum passengers, or if you want to have a private shuttle, with the same company you can do it at $100.000 (USD $120 per vehicle). These can be arranged in either direction online. Our team can help with these too when you are on tour as it is in Spanish.

With Santiago as your starting point, you’ll be ready to explore Chile’s breath-taking landscapes on two wheels.  Safe travels and happy cycling!
