Egemen was born near the eastern border of Turkey. He travelled around the country before settling down in Ankara where he graduated from Mechanical Engineering. While alpine climbing in the mountains with Hacettepe University Mountaineering Club, he began cycling and taking care of his own road bike. With the dream of continuing to mountain climb and cycle, he worked as a freelancer technician in the energy industry and guiding in the mountains and rock climbing. For the last three years he has been doing the maintenance and repairs of bikes on biking Tours.
