CARYS MAI HUGHES

aka: (no nicknames.... yet)

ROLE  Guide

RIDE The Valley of the Tears loop from Tejeda, Gran Canaria. A remote and idyllic mountain village in the middle of the island. Not for the faint hearted in terms of climbing but utterly stunning.

RELAX after a long day riding, cold water dip, shower, loads of good fresh food, feet up on the sofa/ hammock/ beach  ...Or a run

REFRESHMENT skip the snacks, more of a slap up meal kinda girl, but love a coffee stop, (flatwhiteoatmilk), can eat my body weight in watermelon and papaya.

Banff Mountain Film Festival and Ocean Film Festival presenter, ex-pro triathlete, sky runner and bikepacker from Pembrokeshire, Wales…but not often found in the UK. Having quit the conventional life of University lecturing in 2022, Carys can now be found anywhere and everywhere in Europe and beyond with her bike and T6. She’s competed at 3 world championships in triathlon and skyrunning, and when not working, she’s smashing through her list of dreams, recently summiting the Matterhorn, conquering Corsica’s GR20 in 5 days, and is currently bikepacking Chile Patagonia’s Carretera Austral and Argentina. She’s all about exploring the great outdoors, adventure, natural wonders, and good simple living.

There’s no denying she’s Welsh though from her accent, and the way she “flirts” with everyone (don’t think you’re special), just a very friendly nation...with lots of hills, so watch your 6…small but mighty 😉
