CHARLIE MACTEAR

CHARLIE MACTEAR

aka:

ROLE  Tour leader

RIDE  Anywhere in the Brecon Beacons in Wales (as long as it's not raining, which is rare!)

RELAX  Good music, good beer and good friends

REFRESHMENT  Can’t go wrong with a boulevardier. The best I've had was in Romania and made with Banana liqueur!

READ  The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, but have spent the past 4 years reading ALOT of history books, the joys of a history degree!

Charlie has been riding bikes since he was 15, and started racing in 2019 with TTs (Timetrials). At 17 years of age he managed 10 miles in just over 20 minutes - 48k/hr average speed!
Since then he discovered a love-hate relationship with British hills and in 2020 he became the U23 British Hill Climb Champion and placed 6th overall in the UK in the men's category.
This last year Charlie has focussed on road racing and cyclocross, competing competitively at a National level with the best in Britain.
Alongside cycling, Charlie has been studying and in 2023 graduated from the University of Exeter with a BA Hons in History having studied a real mix of topics from gladiators to witches to British colonialism! My new reading list is now starting to include books on Vikings...
