A Long Commute to Find A Great Ride!

A Long Commute to Start a Ride!
Aah, to start at YQG (‘Your Quick Getaway’), this was true today! Because it was the easiest and most pleasant of the 4 airports I visited today/tonight/this morning…what time is it anyway??

First stop Toronto Pearson Airport aka Hell on Earth, then Frankfurt Germany Airport, aka Pearson’s Cruel Sister. At least I got to get a little exercise in walking over 2 miles between gates, walking sidewalks not working, elevator at Frankfurt out of order, requiring 4 flights of stairs.

the usual disorganized mess at Pearson…and my walk between gates

And Frankfurt

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that the giant pretzels were good! (almost as good as Pretzel Central).
And finally Venice’s Marco Polo Airport, much improved since we visited a few years ago, now has a large concourse leading directly to the water taxis/vaporettos. Off to the island neighbourhood of Lido where we stay for 3 nights, await the group to arrive from Australia and the UK, and of course Team Canuck!

the Hotel Biasutti in Lido and the amazing beach here, a setting for the book and film Death in Venice.

The beach in Lido

Someone who has not arrived is Mr.Pink! That rascal went AWOL somewhere between Frankfurt and Venice…when I get my hands on him, he will have some splainin’ to do!! An hour wasted at the Lost Baggage counter!
A warm evening and a little carb loading, Italian style

The group gathers tomorrow for bike assembly and shakedown ride, but today will be a scolding and grounding for Mr.Pink and sightseeing for me. Of course Richard and Team Plantagenet will be doing the media events etc., confident they will be victorious in the days to come. But beware, Team Canuck will be ready!
Ciao!
