We had coffee in Nuits-Saint- George, the main town of the Cote de Nuits wine producing area of Burgundy.

From here we followed the Route de Grand Crus, riding through small towns like Richebourg, Pommard, Gevrey-Chambertin, Mersault, Paligny-Montrachet and Romanee-Conti.

We were directly south of Dijon and rode through massive vineyards on gently sloping hills. This is the cradle of many Grand and Premier wines with their distinctive aromatic richness and purple or golden colour. This pathway is nicknamed the Champs-Élysées of the Burgogne region.

Bruce suggested we ride of the route down to the town of Marsault for lunch where he and his wife had visited many years ago. We enjoyed a beautiful 3 course meal accompanied by a nice white burgundy.

Our final destination is Beaune, a very vibrant small city.

Tomorrow is a quasi rest day as we have a 4 1/2 hr shuttle ride to Limoges.

Life is good in Marsault and in Beaune!
