- After another great breakfast, we kitted up and headed west along the north shore of Lake Constance. We rode the entire length, some 70km, just like riding the Lake Erie north shore…well NOT even close! lol

- So the first 70 km was mostly flat along the lake, BUT that was the only similarity. First of all there are beautifully paved roads and paved bike paths through picturesque villages. Does that sound anything like Essex County with our crappy roads?….but I digress.
- The route was 126km and 3,353 ft climbing, most of that in the last 35km.
- Lake Constance is 63 km long and borders Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It has two parts, the Untersee(lower lake) and the larger Ubersee(upper lake) and is fed by the Rhine river. Many lakeside villages offer great summer activities like sailing, kayaking, swimming.
Coffee break was in the lakeside village of Hanau. We got caught riding on a road that bikes were not allowed, hey we can’t speak German!IMG_5881 IMG_5884
We passed through the town of Friedrichstrafen, this is where the first zeppelin was made and still is.
Our destination was Donaueschingen, a small town one industry town. That industry is the Furstenburg Brewery so naturally, we went there, just a short walk from our hotel!
Life is good in Donaueschingen!
