Paris and the Tour De France

This post will cover the next 3 days that some of us managed to spend in Paris.

Saturday 27th July

Time for us to spread all over Europe or head for home…

About 9 of us headed for Colmar train station to head to Strasbourg and catch the TVG to Paris. We hit speeds around 320kph that afternoon… Scotty you need to delete that Strava entry…

Ssshhh don’t tell the train conductor…

We arrive at Gare d’lest station and decided to walk to the hotel, 6km away, with bike bags…

Stand aside the bike bag train is coming through…

Are we lost? Should we ask that lady? Nah…

We made it to the hotel, dumped gear and went for a walk…

a mix of the old and new…

Sunday 28th July

Its the final stage of the Tour de France today…

We found a spot near the Place de la Concorde where there was a pinch point on the route. great viewing…

The Caravan arriving….

Happy campers….

Finally, the race arrives. 8 laps of mayhem…

Yey for Caleb Ewan who won his 3rd stage of this year’s tour.

Apparently we were on the tele…

Monday 29th July

Thankyou Big Bus, you saved my legs…

The Louvre. didn’t bother, too many many people…

The left bank of the Seine

the low point of the day. Notre Dame, so sad…

That tower…

High fashion Paris style. The pigeon poo hair do will be all the rage this summer in Australia…

Beautiful Boulevards and apartments…

One of the highlights was a visit to Les Invalides which houses the war museum and Napoleons tomb…

I asked him what he was thinking? not much apparently…

Jeanne d’Arc

Moulin Rouge

back to the hotel…
