A beautiful sunrise greeted us, a great breakfast of eggs Benedict and espresso.

A beautiful sunrise greeted us and stayed sunny all day, after a breakfast of eggs Benedict and espresso we were ready to ride.

Today we meandered, savouring the serenity of Tasmania’s northeast coast. A gentle climb south out of St Helens was followed by beautiful flat riding. 50% of the route today was along the seaside and Moulting Lagoon, an important site for waterbirds.

At about 27km we took oon the Elephant! This pass is a beautiful gradual climb (6.5km @5%) up to St Mary’s for coffee, then over the pass and descending back to the coast.

Post-lunch we’ll rolling d past the blowhole before leaving Bicheno and head inland for 11km to the junction with the Coles Bay Road.

Picnic lunch prepared by Sean and Henrick….quiche, Caesar salad, beet, walnut and feta salad, assorted cheeses and fresh bread.

From here it was 30km of relaxed riding to our hotel. The compact but impressive Hazards mountain range rose in front of us as we rode into the township of Coles Bay, where we had a detour around the waterfront to enjoy an ice cream at one of the most scenic places in Australia.g

Our accommodations for the next 2 nights is the Freycinet Lodge.

Dinner was a combination of platter of grilled lamb, beef, chicken and fish with broccoli I, asparagus and green beans, fresh fruit for dessert.

A beautiful sunset over the Hazards ended another great day on the bike!

Life is Good in Freycinet!
