My last day in Canberra and it was another good one!

A ootenbak to Lake George with a coffee stop on the way back.

Across the lake a look over at the Science Museum. This was built on the site of the old General Hospital. The plan was to implode the building to make way for the museum, many boats and kayaks watched. However instead of the building imploding it exploded sending debris into the crowd on the lake and far shore. A 12 year old girl was struck and killed, her location memorialized with a rock monument.

A cool sculpture project for honouring the Australian of the Year…each block is an honouree, notice the blocks are offset and ground has 5 spaces symbolizing music staff paper. The blocks are the different musical notes of the Australian national anthem.

On to Lake George, almost entirely on paved bike paths, large paved shoulders or quiet country roads.

Almost back to the end of the ride so a stop into Capital Brewery for a schooner to hydrate

The ride took us into New South Wales, it was great to return to the ACT!

A quick stop at the Governor General’s house…they wouldn’t let us two MAMILS in.

A tasty Malaysian dinner with my Canberra and Canberra/Sydney hosts, Andrew, Amanda, Michael and Louise. They all welcomed me to Australia and made this trip so special.

The last phase of the journey starts tomorrow, to Huskison for a reunion of more Bike Odyssey friends. Canberra is truly a class act/ACT and will be remembered!
