“You’ll have to excuse me I’m not at my best, I’ve been gone for a month, I’ve been riding since I left, these so-called vacations will soon be my death, I’m so sick of the climbs, I need home for a rest”….apologies to Spirit of the West😜
On The Road: Wideroe Airlines Alesund to Bergen
Iceland Airlines Bergen to Rejkavik
Rejkavik to Detroit….total 12hr 42 min I Elevation 42,350 ft
Departing early this morning were the Kiwis, a couple of Aussies and a lone Canuck for a 6:30 am flight to Oslo and for most, the start of a 36 hr flying journey, they were all gone before I awoke. That left the remaining 4 of us and 3 guides. Jane, Tony and Rai continue on to Australia; Tor to his home village of Uvik, Henrick driving one van to Girona Spain and Charlie driving a van and trailer with fleet of Domanes and e-bikes to Barcelona. Henrick and Tor will return in 10 days to repeat this tour.
A bountiful breakfast and coffee beside the warm fire in the lobby fireplace…Mr. Pink and bike ready to go!
Shuttle van to the airport, a 20 minute ride, cost $100 CDN, Bike checked at Alesund airport through to Detroit, cost $101Cdn,…is there a theme here??? Yes, Norway is freaking expensive!!!
Wideroe Airlines flight from Alesund to Bergen, a tedious experience dealing with them but the flight was short and views of a few hundred of the thousands of islands that make up Norway… Mr Pink and bike got on the plane!…
A touch down in Reyjkavic after a 2 hr flight on Iceland Air…Reyjkavic airport very congested, no jetways, all planes require a bus ride on the tarmac…
A 6 hr flight to Detroit….getting closer to home, but landing in Detroit is quite a buzz kill after such a fantastic trip!
