This morning (after checking on my bag status – (it was now back in Paris with Air France) we met up with our other Othello riders, mostly Aussies (from VIC & ACT) with a couple of ring-ins from Canada, USA and UK – so a total of 13 plus our guides Bruno & Enrico. For many of the group it was their 2nd, 3rd or even 4th Bike Odyssey trip.
The day was taken up with bike assembly and a short ride around the outside of the Medina.
An afternoon city tour with Mustapha, then drinks and a lovely rooftop Terrace dinner where we could view the Atlas Mountains that we would be cycling over.
Afterwards we navigated the winding Medina alleys- which looked entirely unrecognisable without the colourful stalls to provide visual landmarks, to arrive at the bustling main square Jemaa el-Fnaa where the locals gathered to participate in storytelling, games, snake charming and of course feasting.
But for me, the highlight of the day was undoubtedly being reunited with my suitcase (and the all important cycling gear) after its 5 day disappearing act.
Now my holiday can start!
