On the Road: 88km\/ 55 miles I Elevation 1,332 metres\/ 4,032ft<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Green, lush, forested and relatively unspoilt. As we headed out to our northernmost point of the tour the riding was remote and undulating, described by our scouters as rollercoasterlike!

As the day rolled on the scenery got better and better, from 20km we will always be beside the Kvernesfjorden with views across to rolling green hills, however the background view of snowy mountain tops was hidden by low clouds the entire ride.

Today we headed to the Great Atlantic Road, renowned as one of the most picturesque road settings in the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hopping from one inlet and island to the next can be quite the experience on a blustery day. It was a calm day for us but if blustery the road conditions can be treacherous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From there we boarded a private motor boat to sail to our hotel on H\u00e5holmen island!  Epic stuff!

The Atlanterhavsvegen was named building of the 20th century in 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is referred to as the most beautiful journey in the world. With its eight bridges, the road meanders like a sea worm from K\u00e5rv\u00e5g on Aver\u00f8ya to Vevang at the mainland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sea has been Norway’s most important means of transportation for centuries. It is the major source of income and the starting point for endless activities and recreation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Great Atlantic Road
The Atlantic Road connects Aver\u00f8y with the mainland through islands, islets and reefs by means of eight bridges. The Atlantic Road stretches over 8,274 metres(5.5 miles). The road is described as the world’s most beautiful car journey. Started in 1983, the road was finally opened in 1989. The construction was a major challenge and the workers experienced as many as 12 hurricanes during the building project!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And to finish…why not the chase scene from James Bond No Time to Die which uses this epic scenery!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We stopped on one small island, bikes secured in a shed and we were taken by private motorboat to our hotel for the night on Haholmen island. The hotel is the Haholmen Havstuer. The weather broke into brilliant sunshine to allow me to explore this small island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mostly individual cabins with grass roofs, very cozy and comfy. I had some time before tomorrow\u2019s team briefing and dinner to explore this small island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A museum here houses the remnants of a Viking ship recreation that took 4 yr to build completely by hand exactly how the Vikings would have built it, using the same tools. When completed in 1992, the ship sailed from Norway to L\u2019anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland! After that it sailed almost around the world until a severe storm destroyed the ship, all onboard survived and what was left of the ship was reconstructed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dinner was at this hotel\u2026haddock cerviche, roasted chicken, zabaglione<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking west at 11:20 PM\u2026plenty of light to ride a metric! But it will have to wait until tomorrow when the sun comes up, but wait a minute, it\u2019s already up!\ud83d\ude1c\ud83d\ude0e\ud83e\udd2a
