On the Road: 85 km \/53 miles I Elevation 1,232 metres\/ 4,042 ft<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before dinner last night on a warm sunny evening , we were treated to some music written and performed by our guide Tor, we were quite impressed by the talent of this gentle giant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 3:15 am, the sun is rising\u2026or did it ever go down completely?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Navigating around the Langefjord, our initial 20km were relatively flat with only gentle undulations. We rode around the end of the fjord and it gave us a good look at Andalsnes. The weather was the best we\u2019ve had the whole trip, full sun and a high of 28C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This morning as we cruised along, swapping slightly busier roads for quiet country lanes with a few sections of bike paths, the scenery maintained its impressive nature – snowy mountains, spruce, pine and birch trees covering the steep hills where there are cliffs falling into the deep fjords – Norway is a natural heaven for cyclists!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we passed Afarnes, the roads again narrowed and there was little traffic as we headed towards the one major climb of the day, the Fjellgarden pass at 500m.
As we ascended I couldn\u2019t help but look back at the great views down to the fjord.

Our destination today was Angvik ( \u2018Angr\u2019 means an inlet of a fjord) and the famous Angvik Gamle Handelssted Spa hotel, one of the best of the tour and well deserved as we head into our final riding days of this epic journey!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A picnic lunch, check in to the hotel then a 40C steam followed by a 90C sauna followed by a ice water dousing followed by a warm pool then into the fjord for a cold swim. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course the Kiwis had to have their daily post ride \u2018dirty beer\u2019 then gin and tonic! Guides Sam and Henrick couldn\u2019t wait to get out of their bibs before diving in the fjord\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A guided tour of the hotel preceded our dinner. This hotel and the land and businesses around it have been owned by the same family ( Angvik Family) for 5 generations. We were given a tour of the estate\u2019s museum and the family history, as well as a visit to the hotel\u2019s art gallery<\/p>\n\n\n\n
