Today was spent travelling back to Venice and preparing for Day 1 of the tour starting tomorrow, Saturday the 13th.<\/p>\n

A small village near Tirano…<\/p>\n

There are a lot of tunnels in the Alps. Most have names and their lengths marked on an entrance sign. So we went into nerd mode and did the math. We went through 31 tunnels with a combined length of almost 45km with the longest being nearly 8km in length. Quite amazing engineering.<\/p>\n

The Bridge of Sighs in Venice…<\/p>\n

Wiki tells me that the enclosed bridge is made of white limestone, has windows with stone bars, passes over the Rio di Palazzo, and connects the New Prison (Prigioni Nuove<\/i>) to the interrogation rooms in the Doge’s Palace.\u00a0The view from the Bridge of Sighs was the last view of Venice that convicts saw before their imprisonment.<\/p>\n
